General resources
- Partnership for Action, Voices for Empowerment (PAVE). This organization offers free support and advocacy to parents and caregivers affected by disabilities.
- Informing Families. Developed by the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council, in partnership with the Developmental Disabilities Administration, this website offers resources for individuals throughout the lifespan.
- Early Supports for Infants and Toddlers (formerly known as Early Intervention). These services are available to families with children under the age of 3 who are not developing as expected, have a medical condition that can delay normal development or are experiencing developmental delays for other reasons.
- South Sound Parent to Parent. This organization supports families in Grays Harbor, Mason and Thurston counties who are caring for loved ones with developmental disabilities or chronic illnesses, connecting them to local support and resources.
- Birth to Three Developmental Center. Located in Federal Way, this nonprofit provides comprehensive early intervention services for infants, toddlers and their families.
- Holly Ridge Center. This nonprofit offers programs and services to children and adults with differing abilities in Kitsap and North Mason counties.
- Child Find. This program identifies individuals between the ages of 3 and 21 who may have a disability and may be eligible for special education and related services through the public school system.
- Contact the Special Education office at your local school district for more information and to request a screening.
Autism resources
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This site contains a wealth of information about autism, including facts about screening, diagnosis and treatment as well as the latest data and statistics.
- Washington State Department of Health. Find answers to commonly asked questions about autism spectrum disorder.
- Autism Speaks. Among other resources, this organization provides a tool kit for children and families to help them navigate the first 100 days following a diagnosis of autism.
- Autism Society of Washington. This organization offers a number of resources, including a free guidebook for services in Washington state, a directory for local support groups and more.
