Car seat check-ups at Mary Bridge
The Center for Childhood Safety offers two convenient ways for you to learn how to use your car seat correctly – virtual or in person.
- Virtual Car Seat Check: A one-on-one video chat with an experienced Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST). This is our most flexible scheduling option and can be done from the comfort and safety of home. To request a virtual appointment – complete the Virtual Car Seat request form (you can click/type right into the text boxes, no need to print it) and email the completed form back to [email protected]. We will email you a link to connect to our appointment and instructions on how to prepare for our time together. Expect that it can take up to 30-60 minutes per car seat.
- In-Person Car Seat Check: A one-on-one meet up with an experienced Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) outside our office on MultiCare’s Tacoma campus. This service has limited availability, click here to view our schedule and register for an in-person appointment. Appointment slots are for one car seat in one vehicle. If you need help with more than one car seat and/or vehicle, please register for additional adjacent slots so we allow enough time.
Both are private educational visits, customized just for you. We will walk you through the process and observe to make sure you are doing it correctly – but all adjustments and installing will be done by you, so you gain the confidence and skill to do it on your own. Our technicians are comfortable teaching you either way, whether you prefer to bring in your car and car seat to our parking lot or stay at home and receive your education and install over video chat.
Please note that we are closed on weekends and our services are designed for parents/caregivers – this is not a training for those who transport children for work.
