Mary Bridge Children’s hospital care

At Mary Bridge Children’s, we understand that needing inpatient hospital care for a child can be a stressful experience. Our group of expert pediatric medical providers are here for you and your family to provide the care and support you need.

We offer:

  • A pediatric emergency department and Level II pediatric trauma center staffed by pediatric experts who treat the unique needs of children with the right combination of compassion and specialized technology designed just for kids.
  • Seamless transitions between inpatient and outpatient care, with frequent updates, follow-up and detailed discharge summaries provided to your child’s primary care provider or specialist.
  • Southwest Washington’s only Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides care for critically ill infants in a supportive, family-centered environment.
  • A dedicated pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) — the region’s only — staffed by board-certified pediatric critical care specialists providing in-hospital coverage 24 hours a day.
  • A medical/surgical unit with an inpatient pediatric service (IPS) team that specializes in the care of hospitalized children. IPS consists of full-time, board-certified pediatricians who function as an extension of a primary care provider and are available to provide 24-hour, on-site personalized care.
  • Transport services that provide exceptional medical support during an urgent ground or air transfer to our emergency department or pediatric intensive care unit.

What to expect

When your child is receiving inpatient hospital care, our pediatric intensive care or attending physicians work with your child’s primary care provider, nurses and other support staff to help guide you through the hospital stay. Your child’s pediatrician will be updated regularly throughout their treatment.

Upon discharge from Mary Bridge Children’s, your child is returned to the care of their pediatrician, along with a discharge summary and a follow-up call.
