MultiCare’s COVID-19 response

As a community-based health care system, MultiCare has no higher priority than the safety of our patients, our employees and our community.

MultiCare is prepared and ready to care for patients with suspected or confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and we continue to follow our protocols throughout our system. To make sure our patients, visitors and staff stay safe while we address the COVID-19 situation, MultiCare has established visitor restrictions at some of our hospitals.

Your Health and Safety

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, recent exposure or are concerned about COVID-19 testing, please consider using the COVID-19 assessment tool found on our Virtual Care page, or call your primary care provider directly.

Additionally, MultiCare Virtual Care can assess anyone that has COVD-19 symptoms or recent COVID-19 exposure via a virtual visit where our providers will then help you navigate the appropriate next steps and arrange testing when clinically indicated.

Who is tested?

We follow evidence-based guidelines for testing based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other sources. A call to your provider, urgent care facility or our Virtual Care services would be the first step to begin evaluation of your symptoms. From there, we work with both commercial and state labs to facilitate the testing.

If you are having difficulty breathing or a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department.

We recognize the local situation continues to change, and we’d like to invite you to visit a special website we created to share information, as well as follow us on Facebook and Twitter accounts for any changes that may impact you as a patient.

We encourage you to follow basic CDC-recommended preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Stay home when you are sick. If you have a fever, cough or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance.
  • Avoid close contact (maintain at least 6 feet of distance) with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
