Young patient wears a Cystic Fibrosis while being attended to by a health care provider.

Mary Bridge Children’s Cystic Fibrosis Center is a fully accredited pediatric and adult program, providing comprehensive, high-quality care to patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) and their families. Our multidisciplinary center includes three pediatric CF physician specialists, an adult care CF physician specialist, two registered dietitians, two respiratory therapists, as well as a social worker, registered nurse, medical assistant, psychologist, physical therapist, child life specialist and clinic coordinator.

Mary Bridge Children’s CF clinic is offered five times every month. Patients are followed every few months, with special attention given to lung function, nutrition and mental health assessments.

“At our clinic, we emphasize the importance of balancing quality care, patient education and mental health for both patients and caregivers,” says David Ricker, MD, pediatric pulmonologist at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. “Every year, data from the national CFF shows that our clinic is consistently at the top for quality of care and positive patient outcomes.”

When the COVID-19 pandemic started, Mary Bridge Children’s CF clinic quickly transitioned its clinical visits to virtual and telehealth visits — a move that was especially important because CF is a disease that affects the lungs and airways.

CF Award“National leaders with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation noted early in the pandemic how Mary Bridge was very quick to pivot from in-person to telehealth,” Dr. Ricker says. “Our patients are doing well compared to national standards, and our clinic has and continues to do an exceptional job following national CF guidelines.”

The “Outstanding Partner” award is given to CF clinics that exemplify a positive and collaborative relationship with local CFF chapters to further care, education and awareness about CF. Nominations and recipients are selected by CFF staff.

Congratulations to the entire team at Mary Bridge Children’s Cystic Fibrosis Center for the outstanding work and care you bring to patients every day.
