Neuromuscular Clinic

Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Care Affiliate at Mary Bridge Children's

Mary Bridge Children’s offers a clinic that specializes in the care of children with neuromuscular disorders — a group of complex conditions that affect many aspects of life, such as motor development, feeding, breathing and more.

The clinic’s goal is to provide highly coordinated care so children with these conditions can reach their full potential. We aim to enhance both their health and quality of life as they grow.

During a single clinic visit, patients and their caregivers see multiple specialists — easing the burden on families and supporting a team approach to treatment.

Why MDA affiliation matters

Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) logo

In addition to bringing together experts from a variety of disciplines, we are recognized as a care affiliate of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

This designation means that our approach to care is aligned with best practices in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric neuromuscular diseases. Our affiliation also facilitates families’ access to the MDA’s comprehensive range of support services and resources and our growing research program.

What to expect at a clinic visit

Our clinic serves children of all ages, by referral, with a confirmed diagnosis of a neuromuscular disorder. During a clinic visit, children meet with specialists in a series of back-to-back to appointments. Those specialists include experts in:

As needed, patients may also see providers in other specialties:

Working together, our neuromuscular team forms an individualized treatment plan for each patient and connects families with resources, from financial to educational, as needed.

Clinic visits typically last for three to four hours to ensure ample time for children to meet with all necessary specialists. Located at Mary Bridge Children’s Therapy Services – Puyallup, the clinic is currently held once or twice a month.
