Supporting children’s independence with assistive technology
Our assistive technology program, housed at Mary Bridge Children’s Therapy Services – Puyallup, provides evaluation and consultation in the identification and use of adaptive equipment and devices. We work closely with you to increase your child’s independence in daily activities.
Our services
Our evaluation and consultation services include:
- Identifying commercially available, adaptive or durable medical equipment products
- Performing custom modification of equipment and custom fabrication of unique equipment
- Training children and caregivers in the therapeutic use of equipment
We provide support for a broad range of needs:
- Adaptive switches for controlling toys, gaming equipment, appliances, computers, power wheelchairs and other items
- Augmentative and alternative communication devices and mounting/support options
- Technology, software and devices to allow for independent access
- Devices to aid with daily living tasks
- Durable medical and adaptive equipment, such as:
- Activity chairs
- Bath/shower chairs
- Car seats
- Gait trainers/walkers
- Seating and positioning equipment
- Standers
- Wheelchairs (manual and power)
- Home and community access and safety
- Recreation and leisure equipment modifications
