Trauma Services

Critical care for kids is our specialty

The dedicated medical professionals at Mary Bridge Children’s Level II Pediatric Trauma Center are specially trained to provide care for severe and life-threatening injuries.

Mary Bridge Children’s is the state-designated Pediatric Level II Trauma Center for Western Washington. Our trauma team includes board-certified pediatric specialists in emergency medicine, critical care, heart care, orthopedics, neurology, general surgery, plastic surgery and anesthesiology, as well as pediatric nurses specializing in respiratory therapy, social work, neuropsychology and sports medicine.

Transferring critically injured pediatric patients

When seconds count, access to critical care can make all the difference. Our Pediatric Trauma Center is supported by a dedicated Pediatric Transport Team that provides exceptional medical support during an urgent ground or air transfer to our Emergency Department or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

A partnership with Airlift Northwest, part of UW Medicine, means our team can transfer the most critical pediatric patients in far-reaching areas three to four times faster than ground transport.

Comprehensive surgical services

If your child requires surgery as part of their trauma care, we have a full service pediatric surgical center and Mary Bridge Children’s Surgery department staffed with a multidisciplinary pediatric surgical team to expertly care for complex cases.

Intensive care and inpatient services

What sets Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital apart from others is our board-certified pediatric physicians who are on-site 24/7 to care for kids. Families can rely on a consistent team of specialists to provide the highest level of care.

Mary Bridge Children’s has the only pediatric intensive care unit specifically for children in Southwest Washington and is staffed by board-certified pediatric critical care physicians who provide in-hospital coverage 24 hours a day.

Our Medical/Surgical Unit features our Inpatient Pediatric Service (IPS). The IPS consists of a group of full-time, board-certified pediatricians who specialize in the care of hospitalized children and function as an extension of a primary care physician, providing on-site, personalized care.
