Why choose Mary Bridge Children’s for rheumatology?

We understand rheumatic conditions can be difficult to diagnose and treat. At Mary Bridge Children’s Rheumatology, our team of specialists work to provide your child with the earliest possible diagnosis so we can create the best care plan for your child’s needs. Our goal is to get your child back to health and activity.

Conditions & treatments

Rheumatic diseases may cause pain, stiffness and swelling in your child’s joints as well as in muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones. Rheumatic diseases can also affect other areas of the body, including internal organs. Many rheumatic diseases are caused by autoimmune disorders — diseases where the body’s immune system attacks its own healthy cells and tissues and causes excessive inflammation.

We treat children for a wide range of childhood inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, including:

  • Ankylosing spondylitis (a type of spinal arthritis)
  • Autoinflammatory syndromes
  • Blood vessel inflammation
  • Chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (inflammation of the bones)
  • Juvenile dermatomyositis (autoimmune disease affecting muscle, skin and small blood vessels)
  • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)
  • Lupus
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Severe Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP; inflammation affecting small blood vessels in the intestines, joints, kidneys and skin)
  • Uveitis (inflammation affecting tissue in the eye)
  • Vasculitis/blood vessel inflammation, including Kawasaki Disease
